Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

JIESS: Journal of Informatics, Electrical, Statistics, and Information Systems Manuscripts must be original research results in the fields of informatics, electrical engineering, statistics, or information systems. The manuscript must never have been published in other media.

1. General Writing Guidelines

  • Language: Uses standard and effective Indonesian or English.

  • File Format: Uses Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx).

  • Page Size: Uses A4 paper size.

  • Page Limit: The length of the manuscript ranges from 6 to 15 pages.

  • Template: Manuscripts must follow the official JIESS Journal Template format.

2. Manuscript Structure Every manuscript must be arranged in the following order:

  • Title: Maximum 15 words. Must be specific, clear, and informative.

  • Author Identity: Full name (without academic titles), affiliation/institution, and correspondence email.

  • Abstract: Written in Indonesian and English. Maximum 200 words. Contains a brief background, methods, results, and conclusions.

  • Keywords: Consists of 3–5 words or key phrases.

  • Introduction: Contains background, problems, state-of-the-art, and research objectives.

  • Research Methods: Explains stages, algorithms, system design, or data analysis techniques in detail.

  • Results and Discussion: Presents research data logically. Equipped with supporting tables, graphs, or images.

  • Conclusion: Answers the research objectives and provides suggestions for future development.

  • References: Minimum of 10 references. Prioritized from scientific journals published within the last 5 years.

3. Table and Figure Formatting

  • Figures: Must be clear, high resolution, and centered.

  • Tables: Uses only horizontal lines (without vertical lines).

  • Captions: Table titles above the table. Figure titles below the figure.

  • Citations: All figures and tables must be cited within the text.

4. Citation and References

  • Citation Style: Mandatory to use the IEEE Style format.

  • Tools: Authors are strongly advised to use reference management applications, such as Mendeley or Zotero.

5. Publication Ethics and Plagiarism

  • Plagiarism: The maximum similarity index limit is 20%.

  • Checking: The editorial board will check manuscripts using Turnitin or similar applications.

  • License: Accepted articles will be licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0.
